Okay well this event happened some time ago, but I still want to post some pictures I took from the event because they have been floating around in my computer for quite a while already >.< It was held in the newly refurbished Bugis+(previously known as Illuma), Singapore. It was really fun and there were great live performances but unfortunately, i only managed to watch the cosplay fashion show and the performance by one of the local bands.

There was an attempt to set a new record in the Singapore Book of Records for the most number of people drawing manga in one location on 4th August 2012, this was part of the official launch events for the new Bugis+ (formerly known as Illuma)! There was also a Touhou Hisoutensoku tournament and the all-new TKG Arena card game competition! TKG was selling art books, postcards, and demonstrated both the TKG Arena card game, and manga drawing skills. It was really awesome and I loved all the cosplays! I even bought a Japanese drama serial for $10> Wooo Hooo! xD

Some artists hard at work
The cosplay Fashion Show was by some students from the Nanyang Technology University(NTU) Visual Arts Club, atonal University of Singapore (NUS) Comics & Animation Society and Singapore Institute of Management(SIM) Anime and Gaming Club! There were also band performances by local bands Balloon Wings and After Bacon Salad Study Time!

This was the schedule:
1:00pm- Registration of competitors for competitions

2:00pm- Cosplay event beginning

2:30pm- Registration of participants for manga drawing, and band performance

3:30pm- Beginning of manga drawing

4:00pm- Lucky draw, awards presentation, certificates presentation

4:45pm- Band performance

5:20pm- Competition prize presentations
5:30pm- Band performance

Here are some pics that I took :) You have to agree that these are amazing drawings plus cosplays by fellow Singaporeans! <3

Some people displaying their awesome cosplay skills. >.<

Unfortunately I didn’t get to cosplay anything there D: but seeing that so many people appreciated and indulged in the culture of cosplay made me feel overjoyed. Cosplay has gone a far way and I’m proud that people just love it now. ^-^

Is cosplaying "Indecent"?

http://thecosplaychronicles.blogspot.sg/2012/08/cosplay-p0rn-not_11.html#more

Hi I want to share this link with all of you out there :) Please read it, it's very important regarding all of us cosplayers. >.<

Recently..no wait actually it has been going on for a while now...people have started to think that cosplaying is 'indecent' due to the fact that some cosplayers dress up in sexy costumes. Personally, i find that unreasonable, you can't judge the whole cosplay community just based on what some people do!

First off, cosplaying is mostly a hobby for people who want to dress up as their favorite characters. This may be due to the fact that the charter has an attribute which the cosplayer loves and hopes to potray through cosplay, they do not dress up just to look" sexy" or "indecent" just to attract attention for themselves. FYI We cosplayers are NOT attention seekers. You can't just judge the cosplay community just because some cosplayers wear revealing outfits (if you say that about them, what about other people that you see wearing super revealing outfits on the streets? Just saying.....) they are just trying to potray their character to the best extent, so please be more understanding! :)

Students from NUS, NTU and SIM
Next, we all know that many people still don't accept cosplayers as part of their community for a variety of reasons ranging from the fact that the idea of cosplay remains alien to some, to being down right weird. I just want to remind a certain group of people out there that everyone has their own interests and hobbies, so technically, you have no reason to see cosplay in a negative light. We should all learn to accept each other as who we are and stop this discrimination of people who are slightly different from us. (Yes, slightly different, cosplayers are human too you know =.=)

Thank you for reading this whole long and boring post based on my useless ramblings etc. I hope this post(well for the part that i have written that is) does not offend anyone >.< and I look forward to seeing your comments on this incident thank you. *bows*
